Today, The Infosys Science Foundation today awarded winners of Infosys Prize 2010 recognizing their outstanding achievements in scientific research. The event was graced by Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan and Governer of Maharashtra K. Shankaranarayan at Taj Hotel, Mumbai. The Infosys Prize 2010 is given in five categories -Mathematical Science, Physical science, Engineering and Computer science, life sciences and Social sciences. Six researchers across five categories have been acknowledge for their outstanding accompolishments in Scientific Research. The Prize was given by Dr. Manmohan Singh and the prize includes Fifty Lack Rupees and 24 Karat Gold.
On the Occassion, PM Manmohan Singh said,"I am delighted to participate as it's a very special event, I congratulate each of awardees for their Highly achievement and their Individual contribution for the cause of Knowledge. It's particularly an upliftment for the Infosys who have awarded in different categories and this company accompolishments speaks for yourself and I wish well for the company's work in the years to come, may you be continue a source of Inspiration to them. I am thankful for the company as they inaugurated this kind of award as well as the eminemt jury members of the event who have chosen the winners for the awards. We are living in knowledge based era, we are now more determine and we are no longer depend upon our Army forces as we now have better quality of knowledge, dedication of workforce and the thing which is change from the last few decades is the access of
Knowledge. I see that Infosys Identify the deciplines of life like Computer Science, Life Science and social Science.and I am glad that Infosys is doing world class research in India. "
While speaking to UNI TV, winner Sandip Triwedi who won the prize in Physical sciences said,"These prize is very important becaause as it gives me the confidence that U can explore various directions and I have the capability in me to do good, high quality work. This award is also important that it sends the message to the young generation to do a high quality work. Good work is not only done in USA, Europe, now India is also absolutely cutting edge and well class science.It's not only India is number one in Test Cricket but there are some areas in science where India is number one."
