Navy completes 60 yrs of Independence

On the occasion of the Navy Day, Commander in Chief of the Western Naval Command , Vice admiral Sanjiv Bashim has ogranised a press conference to talk about the Future plans and and the current status of the Indian Navy along with Vice Admiral Pradip Chavan and Vice Admiral Sunil Labbha. Its 60 years of Independence of the Indian navy and today navy is celebrating its Navy day. According to Sanjiv Bashim, Navy has inducted 56 helicopters as per their future project who will replace Chetak by 2013 and also coming up with 34 navy ships and even technologically advanced radar systems.

While speaking to the Media, Commander in Chief , Vice admiral Sanjiv Bashim said,"Costal security is our prime concern and we are securing 7,600 km so that there illegal doings like smuggling, human trafficing and drug smuggling do not take place. For the coastal security,state has provided the marine police which patrol to the coast of mumbai by 12 nautical miles." When particularly asked about what has changed in Navy after 26/11 terror Attack, he replied,"Previously the costal security is under the control of coastal defence but after 26/11 terror attack the coastal security charge was given to us and we monitor and patrol so that any incident could not occur."

He also said,"Navy has come up with Sea Rooms project which was started six months earlier which helps the persons on the ship by the pirates of the ocean. In our sea room project we had made our ships more secured -especially engine rooms,vill house of the ship so that if any pirate attack on the boat the crew member on the boat rushed to the engine room and locked them from inside and they will be safe."
When asked about in the context of fishermen Community of the Mumbai Area,he replied,"Fisherman community is very close to us and we really respect our fishermen and we have a good relation with our fishermen and we also organised awareness campaign to communicate with the fishermen. If somebody in the sea carryout any activity which is illegal or wrong, they are the one who know first about the wrong doings and they know easily about the any outsiders boat and we have a good relation and if they communicate with us we will then surely say that there will be no 26\11 attack occur again."
