Mumbai is ready for the Marathon on 16th January 2011


Mumbai people are all set to run in a forthcoming 'Mumbai Marathon' which is going to be held on 16th January 2011, an event which is organised by Standard Chartered Bank and supported by Government of Maharashtra along with Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai(M.C.G.M). Today the official annoucement of the Mumbai Marathon programme was held in Trident Hotel and the event was graced by Bollywood Actor and Mumbai Marathon Brand Ambassador John Abrahim, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and Asian Games winner Kavita Raut. This year a special song has been made for Mumbai Marathon which is composed by Taufiq Qureshi and sung by Singer 'Shann' and the song is for boosting the spirit of the Runners in Marathon.

While speaking to the Media John Abrahim said,"Now, many mumbai people are running for the excuse of Mumbai Marathon and running will make them Fit and Healthy for the Marathon and the Marathon is for charitable cause and its a great platform for the charity", he also added,
When asked about Sports in India, he explained," I think It's a matter of time, we have performed better in Common Wealth Games and Asian Games and I sure that we will perform well."
On the Other side, PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said,"Every one from Mumbai and outside Maharashtra are waiting for the Mumbai Marathon. We celebrate Marathon as a festival in Maharashtra from last eight years from when it was started. There were so many problems earlier with the event of Mumbai Marathon but they proved them and now Mumbai Marathon is one of the best in the World. Marathon also provides charity and even make people to come out from the home and become fit."
