Fire Crackers crossed the limit of Sound Decibel during the test



The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board in association with AWAAZ Foundation, a non-govermental organization has carried out noise level monitoring of commonly available fire crackers today. The fire crackers of different make, manufactured by various units were tested for noise level in an open space. Pollution Control Board and Awaaz Foundation have found that the sound level of some of the Fire crackers is high as per their decibel limit. The decibel limit of single cracker is 125 dB and series cracker is 105 dB as per the Explosive Rules, 1983. In a demonstration of the Single cracker it is found that two single crackers crosses the level of 125 dB and three series crackers crosses the level of 105 dB sound.



While Speaking to the media, Sumaira Abdulali said,"In 2008 we have tested the sound level of fire crackers and there was less sound level but in 2009 the sound decibel of fire crackers increased in Diwali. On this year we have tested fire crackers and we found that some of the fire crackers crossing their decibel limit."

On the other Side Pollution Control Board member S.C.Kollur said,"We will take action to those crackers which are crossing the limit of sound decibel and we will send our report to the crackers and explosives companies."

Dr.Kritika Doshi, Anasthaesiologist said,"Due to Fire crackers and Noise Pollution there are many respiratory diseases which people would be affected."
